- Children’s museum, Monday closed. If you’re travelling with kids, a visit to the children’s museum is a must – and as it’s located directly opposite the city zoo, it’s perfectly situated for a fun day out. This hands-on museum has displays including a giant jigsaw-map of Guatemala, an earthquake simulator and a very popular room of uniquely entertaining ball games.
- Zoo (La Aurora), La Aurora Zoo in Guatemala is one of the best in Central America. It has many animals from different regions of the world, from Africa, Asia, America and Oceania. It also has a section of animals from Guatemalan jungles and forests. It also includes penguins. There are good places to eat, including a Domino’s Pizza and Pollo Campero, as well as cheaper and more Guatemalan style food. The zoo features games for children and a small theater. It is a very good way to spend at least a few hours with children.
